Overproof rum is a strong spirit. Most rums sold in the United States are bottled at 80 to 100 proof, or 40 to 50% alcohol by volume. Some exceptions are rums bottled at 125 to 160 proof or more. They’re also used in cooking recipes that call for rum to be ignited in flame (flambé) or drinks that blend a very strong rum into their recipe. Plantation Original Dark
- RumXP Award Winner. A blend of Trinidad brown rums matured in young Bourbon casks, presenting initial aromas of charred wood and mixed fruit candy leading to dark ripe banana, citrus peel, overripe pineapple, a white raisin note and earthiness that keep it well balanced. The palate reveals a dried fruit blend with apricot, roasted nuts, clove and wood which remains very smooth through mid-palate, then mixed fruit marmalade and big vanilla, with funky wood and well-toasted wood. The rum remains very smooth and dry through the long finish, with a late hint of raisin.
